Hi everyone,
I've probably got a similar story as everyone else. I'm former military. Used to be in great shape, but ever since I got out, my body ain't what it used to be. So I figured it's time to hit the gym.
Unfortunately with a wife and kids, my schedule is tight and I can only workout from 9 to 10 p.m. Monday thru Thursday. (The reason I can't workout on the weekend is the gym is only open 8-8).
So my question is - should I try and workout 4 days in a row with a 3-day rest period OR workout 3 days a week with a rest day thrown in the middle.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't think it really matters when your rest period is, just so long as you aren't working the same body parts two days in a row...
Perhaps try either way, just to see if it makes any difference or what you might prefer!

Welcome to FT, DaSamMan! What is important is that you find what works for you so you are able to stick with it and that as, TimDay has also said, you don't work the same body parts each day. You can certainly throw in some cardio, too, along with your weight training if you need that extra calorie burn.
Good luck with your goals!

Thanks for the advice. I figure I'm going to work out all four days concentrating on one major body "group" (i.e. Arms, Chest, Back, Legs, Abs) each day.
I'm the kind of person that if I don't get real involved very quickly, I lose interest or something else becomes more important. So the more time I commit, the more likely I will succeed.
Thanks again!

Sounds good! I'm the same way, DaSamMan, I have to hit it and hit it hard or I move on. I have found belonging to FT has helped me immensly as I feel accountable as I want to not only be supported, but give support to others.
I also found that keeping some variety with the cardio helps me, so besides my weight training, I swim, box, use a glider and walk, otherwise I get bored and it is hard to get me going.
GOOD LUCK TO YOU!
