I need some feedback on controlling my sweet tooth. I have always been very active and am in decent shape. I started at 246 3 years ago and am right around 200 now. I would really like to lose the flabby gut but I seem to be stuck at 200. One of my biggest problems is my sweet tooth, I will work out hard for 1-2 hours then have a big bowl of ice cream before I go to bed. I know there is a discipline issue but I can't help it 75% of the time. I didn't know if there was something I could take to help with the cravings. Anyone's help is greatly appreciated.:)

I asked this very exact question last week do a search at the bottom of the page you should find it I had some very good advice from some people. Their are alternatives to the snacks we crave we just have to go to the grocery store and read the fat contents and the calories so we can eat something tasty without all that fat intake. I enjoy haveing Baked Lays with Salsa as a good snack a couple hours before bed their is virtually no fat involved. As far as having an ice cream tooth their must be alternatives to that as well.

try having an actual serving size of ice cream, or have a larger portion of frozen yogurt or sorbet. TCBY makes some GREAT low fat frozen yogurts. Tastes just like ice cream but isn't. Same thing with Haggen Daz. They make a killer tasting cherry cheesecake frozen yogurt!!!

Another alternitave would be ice cream made from soy or rice. I havent tried the soy ice creams but the rice ones are good. I cant tell you how much fat they have either but its something to look into.

Try having a protein bar. Designer Whey makes some great tasting ones. They have a new one called Joyride. It is Coconut almond flavored. Yum. And the small ones are only 170 cals w/ 15g of protein.

Hey, you're doing pretty good. I used to eat three bowls of chocolate icecream a day :). BIG BOWLS!!
Find something else you like, go to the store and buy it. Do not buy any icecream at all. When you get the craving, immediately tell yourself to eat the alternative. This will become habit after a while. You will stop craving the sweets.
