Here in BC canada no gym will hire you unless you are BCRPA certified also unless you are an employee of the gym you cannot come in and use their facilities to train someone for a fee. After aI am certified I am going to take some couses on sports nutrition thats why I have been asking about my diet as my knowledge in that field is limited.

Unbeleivable! I saw an add here in the local newspaper for a personal fitness trainer needed at a gym.
Believe it or not, the only prerequisite was to take a cpr course within 30 days! They were going to train the canidate for the rest of the job.

just somthing I noticed the other day working out, observing people inbetween my sets.

a "trainer"( I use it loosly) changed out of the trainer shirt, to do his work out off the clock. As he worked out I noticed somthing intresting....

1st off... he did squats in a msith machine, which is fine no prob there, my prob is they where 1/2 squats! No where near parallel. Hwo can someone be certified but nto use correct form/?

Next I saw him do shrugs and rolling the shoulder back and forward? Why.....rolling them forwards makes the chest pull sholders forward.....rolling them back makes the lats pull shoulder blades back? Hardly any traps? why?

Next, I was wanting to use a hammer lat machine, but a trainer wa susing it for a client, so I waited my turn. when she was switching machines, she made them comment" I hate it when peopel don't put the weight back up and off the machines" ( there was 2 45s on the machine)......then when I get to the machine I wanted that she was just using, she left the weights on there! What the hell? sorry just had to say somthing, but I have never even tried to take the test, and I know, if these idiots can pass it and do this job, then I know I can lol.

also with shrugs if you roll them you can do some serious damage. It is my best excercise out of them all and my traps are great. I hate seeing people in the gym rolling and I always mention something to them as I dont want to see any injuries. All they have to do is pull up and hold for a couple seconds and than slowly return them down. As far as the squats thing thats just ridiculous. I am half done my ceritification for my personal training and thats a big no-no they even get people that start out learning against a wall to teach them correct form so they can concenttrate on keeping their backs straight.
