This question was posed a week or three ago, but on another thread & has been shuffled down to oblivion. Since it is a bit tangential, I have reposted rather that just bumped.
Anyone care to field it?
>Could someone explain why the (creatine) pills are considered useless? Wouldn't they allow you to take it in advance of the workout to give time to digest the gel pack in which the creatine is encapsulated?

To make the pills, they have to add fillers and additives of some sort just to hold them together! Why would you want this, and if heat is used in making, them or moisture, there goes the value of the small amount of creatine that was in there in the first place.
