Ok...I've just started this program/diet and since I'm not interested in losing weight, only toning..
Is whole wheat bread really a MUST as opposed to white? What about grain bread..or honey wheat?
Is an occassional (once every 2-3 days) candy bar really a NO-NO?!
Is mac-n-cheese gonna stick to my thighs even when I'm doing this work-out everyday?
When looking at the labels on food...what's an easy to remember 'rule' for carbs, sugars, sat fat...etc? When my 'trainer/friend' takes me shopping, it seems he tells me something different everytime!!! I get frustrated and think he's cushioning his preferences and desires to my preferences (in regards to foods) and desires (in regards to fitness results).
Any advice or ideas are greatly appreciated!! I think the diet is my hardest part! I love chips n dips, salads, some chocolates (tried a slim fast bar this morning..>NASTY!)
and that's about all I've fussed about...besides mac n cheese :P

If I was trying to tone up my body I wouldn';t eat any of the toxic substances you mentioned except for the grain bread (for a fibrous carb).
After you have been exercising and eating right, then have the toxic stuff as one of your cheat meals or snacks.
Those are all unhealthy carbs (processed).
Look for the protein count, and fat count. Eat foods high in protein, low in bad fat and simple carbs. Stay away from the sugar.
Hope this helps.

1. What you get from FT is a healthy lifestyle, not a diet.

2. Shove anything into your head that makes you happy. If it makes you happy to do things that make it harder for you to reach your goals, that's a choice only you can make.

3. Toning is muscle building. You can't build muscle with mac and cheese and candy bars.

4. Have you considered that your trainer/friend is frustrated with you and probably altering his suggestions because you don't want a program that doesn't include junk foods?

5. You won't see very many posts from people who really love the foods and dedication it takes to maintain a healthy, lean, well-muscled body. You will however see lots of posts from people who love the results. Food is fuel, not comfort.

Making the decision to adopt a healthy lifestyle is very personal. Noone is interested in forcing you to follow the advice you are given, that has to come from you. Sometimes it's hard to maintain, I've spent the last 2 weeks destroying 6 months of hard work. I don't know why and the reasons don't matter, but I do know that when I'm ready to stop it, I have total control and so do you.

Good luck with your fitness and nutrition goals. We all look forward to helping you reach and maintain them!:)

Sure Ivan, but you can't whine. lol

I know that the reality seems harsh, I really do. I just have to keep going back to what Michael told me a year ago. He said, "Anni, either be happy with the way you are and quit whinning, or do something about it and quit whinning." You CAN'T have your cake and eat it too, it's just that simple and it sucks.

OK..I'm done whining...
It's actually getting fun...I wanna be in shape for my 30th...which is 9 weeks away, so I'm on the road to it! My arms are killing me...but I realize it takes sometime to get used to.
Thanks for the 'no holds barred' 'put me in my place' words!!
