I was trying to find snacks that fit into a 'healthy criteria'..
Fig Bars? 1g fat, 0g sat fat, 18g carbs.. Any input?
Pepperoni slices?
Cashews/nuts in general?
Beef Jerky?
Fruits?
Also..I was reading in a magazine that imitation sugars such as splenda, sweet n low, etc fool your pancreas by triggering the same insulin surge as a dose of sugar.
Anyone here of that?
Thanks

what are the carbs in the fig bars? might be a bit high in sugar.
Pepperoni quite high in saturated("bad")fat
Nuts - excellent choice, contain healthy fats.
Beef jerky - check the sodium content, but otherwise probably an easy source of protein to carry about
Fruits - depends on whether you are intending to compete or are just an amateur. If you are a serious bodybuilder I believe that the sugar content of some fruits(?apples, bananas, grapes) is a bit high, but for mere mortals like myself they are a good healthy choice!

No fig bars! Those things are dangerous to me!
Pepperoni it is greasy red meat (not that red meat is bad) but it is greasy, What do you think?
Cashews/nuts-Yes stray away from salted though
Beef Jerky is good every once in a while, Make sure it is natural not that Denver Dan's crap that is processed
Fruits-Sorry Bud not for cutting, Sucks doesnt? Best fruit you could have would be an apple and that would be during the morning pre-workout, If you are trying to lose weight stray away from fruits and Jump on the vegetables
No Idea on the splenda and all that jazz, But I stay away with it, I dont drink sugar drinks it is strictly water for me or sometimes crystal light but I find that stuff to SWEET so it is strictly water, You should do the same
Another reason, I dont like sugars or fruits is because when I eat fruit and when I exercise I cramp up, So that is another reason I avoid it.

this is what I know about splenda (aka sucralose) i think the sweetner stevia or stevie or whatever is is also sucralose sweetened.
the Atkins diet book says that splenda (sucralose) is the only artificial sweetner you should use because it isn't a chemical, essentially it is just the cellulose shell of the sugar (so it still has a little bit of carbs- but because it is fiberous you don't really digest the trace amount) also it does not impact your blood sugar so you don't spike the insulin levels and create a need for more sugary stuff.
personally i found that eating splenda didn't make me want sugary foods any less than equal does, but i'd prefer using it because it seems more natural somehow.
