I don't think this has been discussed before so maybe someone can help me out with this one.
I just went thru my off week where I get to stay at home instead of going to the gym. What I want to know is...How much time is it ok to let pass by with rest/take off from the gym without losing strenght/mass. The reason I ask is because I know that resting will help me fully recover. But I don't want to start a new program and have to start at a lower weight then where I left off. My goals right now is to basically to pack on some lean mass and then go into cutting phase. I don't want to over do it though. So I want to make sure my body can handly the 12wk mass program.

One of the 10 commandments of training is rest. A week off is very beneficial. Stick to your diet and don't be a couch potatoe, you will come back in great shape.

What I've come to find to be true is if you do not take a week or two off, you tend to take months off from overtraining. I overtrained from June of last year until October and ended up not working out from October until April of this year :).
