but now there is sitting and wishing and wondering how on earth I'm going to get my lazy unmotivated butt up off the couch 4 times a week to move and stretch and....eeek! sweat.
Oh my God, I need some help with this, I'm so unmotivated now that I have no illusions about how my life is going to be 'just perfect' once I...well you know how it goes.
Any words of encouragement or support would be welcome. :)

Start with cardio. Get some resistance training in with it (these will give you a fast metabolic rate)and you will shed the layers of fat and get toned.
Don't foregt that you must eat a healthy diet.
C'mon get that metabolic rate up!

Hey! I was right there with you a week ago.
Then the other day, when all I wanted to do was lie down and sleep, I made myself get on the stationary bike and ride for 30 minutes. It felt great! I thought, hey! I feel better, I have energy.
The next day, I knew that a friend was coming over to lift weights with me, and I was soooo tired again. I was going to call and cancel on her, again, and sleep instead. Then I realized that I will never get better or feel better if I don't stop babying myself. Being exhausted, I figured, what is the worse that can happen? Working out will make me more tired? I was already lying down feeling like jello.
So I bucked up and worked out, and guess what? i felt awesome afterwards. A good tired, instead of a bad fatigue.
I have been forcing myself to do my workouts all week, and I am even looking forward to my next workout now.
Take it one day at a time and believe in the power of exercise to give you energy.
Make good food choices, there are plenty of great posts here about what to eat for great health and energy.
You have to ask yourself, whenever you come to the fork in the road, which decision will get me closer to my goals?
Everything you eat, everytime you do your workout, every step you take will add up to a healthier, more productive life. But the first steps are the hardest. Like the Nike slogan says - "Just do it" , no one can do it for you.
Good luck!

Thank you all for your support. I especially liked this:
"Being exhausted, I figured, what is the worse that can happen? Working out will make me more tired? I was already lying down feeling like jello. "
I've realized just how much time I waste in sitting around feeling sorry for myself, resting, trying to 'fill my tank' again. I think my exhaustion comes more from emotional exhaustion than physical fatigue. Everything I do feels like something is draining from me, like as if what I do is always something for someone else not me.
If I can focus on exercise being something I do for me, then that might work better than what I think now...its just another 'chore'.
One more question.
Is it common for people to start to experience headaches when they start working out after a while? this is another thing which I have a problem with. Whenever I start on a healthy routine I get a lot of headaches and getting my heart rate up with exercise makes them worse. Any comments about this would help.

Are you drinking enough water? maybe you're dehydrated?

Maybe you are overexerting? Lower the intensity of your workouts for a while - you need to ease into a new routine.
Have you had a checkup recently? Frequent headaches are something you may want to talk to your doctor about.
