Yo may remembr from a previous post that I have converted from a home gym to going to a gym. I have noticed that what I was lifting on the Cross Bow is not even comparable to what I am doing with free weights (free weights are much less) Frankly I am pretty frustrated with my lack of strength - I had a hard time with my arms getting sore during the incline dumbell flyes which I fell didn't give me a complete chect workout. I switched to the intermediate level about 3 months age but and considering switching back to the beginner level just because of this change. I hope this all made sense.
I would appreciate any input in to this.

Lower the weights, check your ego at the door, develop perfect form...go from there. I never really saw much difference in beginner and advanced workouts except for reps. Beginner level is for getting your body accustomed to lifting. Tou're already there. I'd stick to advanced, adjust the weight and keep going.

Another thing going on is that with freeweights you're involving stablizer muscles that you didn't use with the machine. You're gonna be surprised at how fast your body grows accustomed to it. Keep on truckin.

When I first started working out, I was using the electronic weight machines where you put in the negative and the positive on the computer and do the reps. When I moved on to free weights, I had to cut down on the weight levels. Same sort of thing you are going through.
Keep up the good work, and don't be discouraged.

Yep, ever notice when you are doing machines, you get up to X amount of weight on the bench press for instance. Then get under the free weight bench, and whoa!! At the very least you are very wobbly...this shows the importance of the stabilizers...with machines, you are on a fixed plane, and they take the stabilizers out of the equation. You will feel weak at first on free weights, but you will soon get stronger. After you do free weights for a while, a good idea is a blend of both as machines do have some advantages for isolation purposes(not as much "throwing...cheating" of the weights).
