When performing the lat pulldown exercise, i was wondering when u do it, if u have to pull the bar down all the way until it hits your chest. When i do it, i and sitting up with my back erect (straight), or sometimes i lean back just a tiny bit. But yeah, i was wondering if u have to go down till the bar hits your chest.

It should touch your upper chest in front of your neck. Hold it for a moment and then back up.
Hope this helps.

Remember this excersize is targeting your back, so if you are pulling with your arms you aren't gaining the maximum benefit. So as you initiate the move pull with your back muscles..takes some dicipline to achieve and it is at first quite challenging to get those muscles to take up the command. Think of pulling your shoulder blades together.

Sometimes it helps to imagine you are pulling the weight with your elbows. This often causes most people to feel the lat muscles right under the armpits. Just remember in all exercises you do, concentrate on the muscle you are working and contract it completely at the end of the motion for a full second.

Hey, this exercise is going great now. I used to be doing the lat pulldown for a workout with 70 or 80 lbs, now im using 90 lbs, and the machine goes up to about 150 lbs or 200lbs, and i make sure the lats are getting the work, and boy they are, haha. I have perfect form now. I hope to be someday using 200 lbs for my workout, WITH CORRECT FORM. Thanks again!
