Does creatine induce diarrhea? I started using GNC's Pro Performance Monohydrate a week ago and I have been going to the restroom a lot. I am not "loading" but I take a "heaping teaspoon a day" (5 grams) as directed by the label.

Should I reduce the dosage or will the diarrhea pass? I don't know if the benefits of using creatine outweigh the hassles of incessant pooping. Thanks in advance.

-I'm new to the board and relatively new to lifting weights. My goal is to lose weight and build muscle. Currently 21 yrs. old, 220lbs. 5'9"-

yes, the only one. Creatine is a powder that breaks down into your body and sits in your muscles retaining water to soften the blow of intense training(sort of but not scientifically said- I aint a doctor)...

I don't see how this product can do anything like diarrhea.
It will
Give abdominal pain as it's hard to break down if you don't drink enough water.
Bloat your arms up plumper(mine by nearly an inch)after about 3 weeks.
let you push an extra rep or two or increase your training weights more easily than ever before allowing progress.

Many people complain of this very unwanted side effect of many brands of creatine. Some of it can come from the intra-cellular fluid retention that creatine can cause, thereby loosening the stool; this will generally pass after a few days when your body becomes used to it. However, most of this problem is related to not so much the creatine itself, but to many of the contaminants and impurities contained in alot of the lesser quality brands.

I agree with revball, do you take it with somthing? or just creatine in water.....gator aide, or juice usually will help it settle better or with some food. Also try taking a lil bit for a week, say 2 3 grams........after your body gets used to it up it to 4 grams.......then 6 or whatever your needs. This should "ease" it into your system.
