Is it okay to do a full body workout once a week instead of spacing the muscle groups out over several days. At this point, I am doing a full body workout twice a week with no less than 48 hrs in between. I do 40 minutes of cardio (elliptical machine or walking 4.5 mph) 5 days a week, and my diet is clean(about 1400 calories/day). It just seems that I muscle up pretty fast for a woman. I feel like I have these huge slabs of muscle underneath the fat. I know that eveyone keeps saying that weight training does not make women bulky, and it's not that I don't want to replace fat with muscle. I just really can't afford to go out and buy more clothes because I'm putting on muscle faster than I am losing fat. I'm thinking I should just work each muscle group once a week and up my cardio.

I don't think this would be the most beneficial. If you want to burn more fat while maintaining muscle, my suggestion would be more of a high rep, low weight routine, doing one body part per week. Try one of programs here at FTs for that. Just remember, the more muscle you have, the faster you will burn fat.
