Its been a while for me on these forums. but here goes. I am a Juevnile Diabetic. I am fit. Question: I have started to take Whey Protien along with Mono-Hydrid Creatine (it has no sugars or carbs). I was wondering if anyone had any information on any negative effects these supps might have. So far my bloodsugars have been maintained. Im takin creatine once in morning and once after workout, along with one scoop of 20g protien after workout. Any insight would be appreciated...:)

They do I am diabetic also trimm. The carbs and sugar in the whey protein should not have a significant affect on your bg's. I myself still have not decided if creatine is a safe risk (oxymoron). We have a greater risk of kidney disease. It will be harder on our kidneys trying to eliminate if from the body. Actually a overly high protein diet is not good for our physiology either. We need to take great care to get enough water to help eliminate the excess protein. Wait till your endo does a 24 hr protein test on you not fun at all have to carry jug everywhere. If they find protein you will be married to a ace inhibitor(zestril, lisinopril) for life.

Kidney problems, you nailed right on the dot...The Whey Protein im taking has only 4 carbs in it per 5 mg scoop. Im not taking it very often maybe once every other day. Sounds awkard to the others in these forums but I agree with you mmai, its about the kidneys. Im pretty active right now and drink loads of water so I think im getting everything in my system clean. The other bad thing is, is that I dont have an appointment with me endo until November. I am taking the Creatine and have not felt any bg difference. I only take the monohydrate, no carbs no sugars. I talked to the employees at GNC (they are not doctors) but they said it should not have that much of an effect on diabetics. mmaibohm if you would like me to find out more about supplements for diabetics just ask, I have a really good doctor to call up and ask if you are as curious as I am.
