could somebody tell me what effects sodium has on the body? i hear some people eat a lot of sodium while others cut it out of their diet. how do these two extremes differ? answers would be greatly appreciated.

well some bodybuilders eat more sodium because it retains water in you, and some stay away from it because they want to lose weight...Sodium retains water, and I think over all that it isn't healthy consuming lots of sodium

Alot of sodium, can cause high blood pressure, and also a sodium imbalance will cause your body's electrolytes to get out of whack. There is no set RDA for sodium but experts do not recomend more than 2,000 mg. It's best to stay away from the stuff, as we get enough in our regular diets, even if it is sodium reduced.

Too much sodium can be a big cause of excreting calcium, this can be a definite sign of too much sodium. For the most part, we get plenty through our normal diets as Carivan says without adding any...i.e...table salt.
