Since I tried one of Bally's smoothie type shakes i've been looking all over the web for a good blender to mix shakes with ice. I'm guessing durability is the #1 priority next to the price so i'm keeping that in mind with my research. I'll keep looking, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

it's kind of expensive, but we bought the "magic bullet" from the infomercial and have not regretted it at all. i think we paid $99 plus shipping.

You can save money and buy a product (shake) that doesn't need a blender. This will also enable you to have your shake anywhere.

we bought a personal blender at WalMart..ran around $12..has a line for 12oz (seems most protien drink mix recipies we use call for 12oz milk) so its very nice. It hold a good amount of stuff and crushes through ice with no problem. We have used ours 4-6 times a day for a month and have never had chunks yet..takes 5 seconds or so.I went up and filled it with ice and added some water to see how it delt with alot of ice..7 seconds or so and it was a icie! We use ON Whey which doesnt need a blender..but the recipies we use do.

gettnlnr, I checked out magic bullet and came accross what looks like a good deal over at the uber-dependable HSN.com

But being the bargain hunter I am, I am only looking to spend <$50 or so.

Carivan, thanks for the suggestion but the whole point of this topic is just to see what people suggest for blending ice with their shakes. Do you always mix without a blender? I was addicted to ice cream shakes before I eliminated them from my diet, so naturally I was in heaven when i tasted almost the same thing from a few ice cubes and some protein.

CodyGrizz, I'll check out WalMart but I wouldn't have expected anything too professional. I hear about lots of durability, sound and smell problems with cheap motors on cheap blenders. Sounds like you got a good one though, if you could tell me the brand name/number that would help a lot. Thanks.

After my own research I found a nice Waring blender that has been praised by a few people who constantly use it for iced protein shakes. I found a great deal on a refurbished version so I'm pretty much sold at this point.

There's still 3 left if anyone's interested, I'll post some follow-ups on how well it works once it arrives.
