I just saw this movie and I am officially grossed out. This man's demise during the 30 days he is eating McDonalds is amazing.
And my son will never eat a chicken nugget again! |

I saw the movie last night, although I do eat the McGrill (chicken breast sandwich, without the bun, extra tomatoe) I doubt if I will continue!

Is that what the movie is called Supersize me??? My boyfriend lives on McDonald's food. I have to get him to watch the movie. Phsically he's in good shape, but I have to wonder whats going on in the inside???? Been trying for months to get him to change his diet maybe the movie would help.

I just watched it tonight and was truly disgusted at myself for subjecting my body to such internal warfare. It was truly motivational towards my weight loss goals. Alot of those people on that movie had really no excuse for being so obese. It made me sad that our general populations lifestyles have gotten so poor and lazy. :o( Then again, I'm not one to talk  hehe

It was interesting to me that he was actually craving McDonalds even though he was deteriorating. That part where he puked the supersize meal will be burned in my brain forever.
I am so glad I watched that movie. Now that's motivation to not eat crap! |

Well when you think about it, all that food is in our faces. I
am not singling out Mc's here but even in the grocery stores and convenient stores and also gas stations. The impulse area (aisle ends) are 90 % junk food, when you walk into a gas bar or convenience store, there is only junk food pushed in our faces. No wonder it's hard for us to resist it. -------------- "A will finds a way, failure is not an option" Ivan carivan@freetrainers.com Montreal Canada |

There is another very indepth post done previously on this if you look it up in FitBuddy search, very interesting. I guess the fact of the matter is that we have choices and if we went into a McDonalds or anywhere else fast food, etc. we could chose to eat all the bad stuff or we could get salads, meat without buns, take off the sauces, etc. This guy from what I understand (didn't see it yet myself but saw something on 20/20 or something with others, see post) just ate whatever for like three meals a day for a month, two others challenged him and chose better meals on the menu's and did fine. So, again, it is all about the choices we make and that they can nearly or succeed in killing us or they can make us healthier - which will it be?-------------- Veda MISERY IS OPTIONAL ***When you are up to your ears in trouble, try using the part that is not submerged. ***The difference between a dream and a goal is a plan. but veda, he had rules that he had to abide by. the point was to show that if you ate mcdonalds food exactly as they expected you to eat it, your body would suffer the consequences.
he had to 1) try one of everything on the menu in the 30-day period, 2) eat everything he ordered exactly as it was given to him, 3) only order things that were on the menu (i.e. if water wasn't on the menu, he couldn't have it,) and 4) had to supersize his order if he was asked to do so. the point was to show that mcdonalds, as mcdonalds intends it to be eaten, is poisinous and addictive, so to speak. he was making a case for two women who were claiming that mcdonalds contributed to their obesity. the defense counsel said that the burden of proof was on the women to show that mcdonalds' food could have that effect, so morgan spurlock took up their cause. these guys who challenged him clearly weren't playing by the same rules, and weren't trying to prove the same point. regardless, the "healthy" options at mcdonalds are far less than desirable, as are the "healthy" options at every fast food restaurant in america (subway being the exception.) bottom line: if you want to treat your body right, stay away from fast food. -------------- i wish you ill, ice-t. margarine is a liar who announces, "i am butter!" |

There are only six items at Mcd's that don't contain sugar!
Water, Black coffee Mcnuggets (notice I didn't say chicken) French fries Hasbrowns Diet drinks. In the past I used to go in and order 2 chicken Mcgrill (no sauce) and throw away the buns. I found out through their own ingredient list that it contains sugar! No more mcgrills for me, and it's no wonder people are addicted. For other good reference read the book "Fast food Nation" (The dark side of the american meal)! -------------- "A will finds a way, failure is not an option" Ivan carivan@freetrainers.com Montreal Canada |

Chicken McNuggets are actually made of chicken, and this I learned from Supersize Me itself. McDonalds has someone who raises chickens specifically for their extra large breasts. They then take the breast meat and smoosh it into a meal type consistancy. They then take the chicken moosh, add a bunch of preservatives and flavorings into it, bread them and fry them. Not saying they are good for you, but they are actually made from chicken. :)

On a similar note there was a programme on the tv over here that tried a little experiment. They took one healthy looking guy (exercised, ate plenty of good healthy food, salads etc) and another guy who clearly was in bad shape (ate fried and junk food all day and didn't exercise). At the start of the trial both were given basic health checks. Obviously the out of shape guy's cholesterol was at critical limit. They basically swapped each others lifestyle and had regular checks on the effect on their health. Within a week the "healthy" guy's cholesterol had shot up. I think the trial only lasted a month and the difference the healthier lifestyle made on the "unhealthy" guy was unbelievable. More worrying was the cholesterol level and fat % of the previously healthy guy. It was dangerously high in very short space of time.

"Chicken moosh"
with preservatives and flavorings, and you forgot stabilizers to hold it all together. And all these componds are produced in a lab. If you can find the time to go to the restaurant, and money to eat that, I'm sure you can make your own at home with real pieces of chicken (even if it is the dark meat) with crushed cornflakes and dijon mustard. No moosh and nothing artificial. -------------- "A will finds a way, failure is not an option" Ivan carivan@freetrainers.com Montreal Canada |

Ohh come on though..moosh is so much fun!! Lol. We usually get fast food when we are out and about w/family and aren't the ones paying for it. Chicken nuggets are my favorites at McD's, but I acn honestly say I hadn't thought of making my own at home. Good idea Carivan!
