Hello! My name is Kim and I have actually been here for awhile, I've just never posted. With everyone's tips I have managed to gradually kick bad habits...but there is one that I need a little advice on. My boyfriend and I go out to eat at least 4 times a week and it just seems like I ate so well that day and I plan on getting something healthy, but as soon as I see the menu...I totally forget about eating healthy. And half way through the meal I am totally disgusted with myself. Mainly I will get things like mashed potatoes, pasta, stuff I'm sure isn't TOO bad, but full of calories I don't need. Does anyone encounter this? Is it best just to stay away from restaurants or does anyone have any advice on this? I know that it is also dealing with my lack of willpower...but I was just wondering if anyone had any tips? Thanks!

Kim,
I've found asian buffets the easiest places to find foods on my diet. I'm in Manhatten where in most places we can order mixed greens instead of potatoes with sandwiches. I do have a harder time finding a healthy selection when I travel.
Watch out for steakhouses that dip their steaks in butter before grilling them.

Hey Kim, from your profile i see your goals are to loose bodyfat. eating out 4 times a week seems like a lot to me. Plus eating out can get costly I'm sure you know that. My advice is if your serious about achieving your goals i would stay away from restaurants, if your at a stand still right now making no progress i think it would be safe to say you can attribute it to eating out 4 times a week. If you can't controll yourself when the menu get's in front of your face then just don't put yourself in that situation. Have some whole wheat pasta at home with some olive oil and some garlic. there are plenty of options check out the recipe tac at the top of the page. Not sure if i helped at all, that's just what i think:big_smile: Good Luck

When I eat out, I make sure 2 things are un my plate..............meat......and somthing colorful(vegies).
Makes sure the meat is grilled, if fried pull the skin off.
Stemed vegies, broiled is ok too. Stay away from the startchies.
Maybe even a salad to, makes you feel fuller.
Also stay away from mayo, cheese and salad dressings. The mayo and cheese are usually made from lard or somthing, and salad dresing has alot of fat in it.
Also if the meat is greasy, dab it off with a napkin.
But I agree with justin, if you really waan lose bodyfat, then dining out is a no no. Maybe once a week as a treat.

I can usually convince my parents to take us out to a resturaunt that I know has healthy choices. (they don't watch what they eat) but I have a problem with people who always ask me, "why do you watch what you eat? Are you still trying to lose weight?" and it gets me really ticked off. I lost about 60 pounds and now I'm trying to gain mass. I eat the same things that I ate losing weight but now just in larger portions.

Yea, I think you guys are right, it's just better not to put myself in that situation. I never, ever eat fast food, we go to places like Fridays, Chilis...etc, but that still gets me into trouble! Anyway I really appreciate the help! Thanks=)
