I've heard that people who begin to use creatine can 10 pounds of muscle within the first few weeks. But i also heard that creatine puts more water into muscle which makes them look bigger, and if you go off creatine for a long peroid of time you lose most of the gains. Is this true? Please help

i think there was a thread somewhere with facts and myths about creatine... gaining 10lbs of muscle in a few weeks is insane any day of the week... what people need to understand is that, while creatine does over-hydrate your muscles and all that (therefore making it look bigger -- somewhat), its 'main' purpose is to give you a little bit of extra energy, so you can lift more... not lift heavier poundages (not necessarily), but it'll give you more energy so you can do a few extra reps, and therefore exposing your muscles to more of an overload, and therefore making it have grow due to such circumstances...

so will you lose muscle by stopping supplementation with creatine? no, but at least not because of the lack of the extra creatine you'd be introducing to your body...

just do a search on google or something, about myths and facts about creatine... i'd get you a link, but i'm either too lazy, or just too sleepy to do so right now... heh, take it easy...

I'm on it. 3 months on and 1 month off. I'm about to start back up again and I did feel slightly weaker within the middle of my off month. But towards my last week I feel just a little bit stronger then before. But creating does work, no doubt about it. Not only does it help me physically but it gives me a mental boost knowing that it works.

I used to take creatine for almost a year cycling on and off, and didn't really like it yeah it got me big but when i came off it i shrunk back down, plus with the cost i found that it just wasn't for me. I would rather feel like my gains are gonna be there and won't fade when i stop taking something. just my .02

10 lbs. of muscle!!!:laugh::laugh: sorry, creatine does work, but not like that! It is not a hormone or anything, just a substance your liver produces naturally from 3 amino acids, and as you age, your natural production declines. Any gains you make are from more explosiveness, the ability to use a bit heavier weights, thus translating to more overload. When getting off of it, you will lose the water that is drawn into the muscle tissue....it is a cell volumizer, but the tissue gains you made will stay.

basicly put, creatine is like a high performance fuel in your car, you gett better gas milage, and more horse power.......even though you have the same engine.
