Although I know when you gain muscle you gain weight it is still frustrating to get on the scale and see you've gained weight! Anyone else feel my frustration? I'm doing cardio at least 3x a week and in week 6 of my weight loss/tone program. I've noticed results and am excited to work out everyday--yet...scale issue is frustrating. Shouldn't have even gotten on the darn thing!

Hehehe, yep I feel you. I didn't get on a scale until after I had been working out, dieting, doing cardio, for three months!! I was 6 lbs heavier than when i was really fat! (Burned off a bunch of fat, but made up for it in muscle)

Some calipers might help.. usually during the summer when I stop working out I lose muscle and my body fat % goes up.. but when I goto college I usually gain 6-8 pounds (dorm food?) but since I goto the gym pretty much every day there my bodyfat % goes down... a pair of accumeasure calipers are not too much I think and might help you see how much your moving along compared to the scale...

I also get rather frustrated when I jump on the scale but that's because I HAVEN'T gained any weight..... I would sooooo much like to gain a little muscle.
One thing that works for me is, that if I still can see my nicely defined abs (and even my bum muscles!!) then I don't really care about the number of the scale.
You'll look ten times greater with 5 lbs of muscles than with 5 lbs of fat!!!!
How do you feel in your clothes?

Feel great in my clothes, but would still like to slim down-- Good to know you get frustrated when you don't gain weight!

That'll be my frustration by the end of the year I think.

I think my muscles are shrinking, but I don't know why. I just started running again, and bam I finally got off of the weight plateau, but um my biceps/triceps are not what they used to be.

You may experience some shrinkage if you're dieting or are training more heavily on aerobic-type exercises...this is normal. Have you been keeping up your protein intake?

Yes, I've been consuming the same amount of protein. It's just odd because I spent more time on cardio when I wasn't running and this did not happen.

you may be more dehydrated from the cardio, that will flatten the muscle. Also the amt of carbo's in the diet will effect the appearance of the muscle. Low carbs flatten the muscles.

Okay I will try to drink more water. But if that doesn't help, should I increase my carb intake, I already get about 60% of my calories from carbs...
