let me start by saying that tuesday is the day that i receive my paycheck. i always look forward to tuesday, because i enjoy having money to do things like pay my bills and eat. this being said, you can imagine the state of horror i was in when tuesday came and went and i still had no paycheck.
i called my office to verify that it had been processed, and it had. i asked them to be sure it had been mailed, and it had. so where the bleep is my paycheck?
i will tell you where it is...i live in a garage apartment. my apartment has a separate address from the house it shares the lot with. i have my own mailbox, located 50 feet down the driveway from my landlord's mailbox, where my mail, obviously, should be delivered. but does it consistently get delivered there? no. why? because the mailman is too lazy to walk down the driveway.
ordinarily, this would not be a big deal because my landlord could give me my check. HOWEVER, the week the mailman decides not to make the 50-foot-walk, my landlord is in california, leaving my paycheck in his locked mailbox. first of all, i believe that it is grounds for termination to not deliver mail to its rightful recipient. that would be like delivering my next door neighbor's mail to me and then saying, oh, they live next door, she'll just take it to them. news flash to my mailman: it is not a homeowner's duty to deliver the mail. when i start getting a paycheck from the government instead of the newspaper, then i'll think about it. furthermore, when i don't get paid, i can't buy the things i need to survive or pay my bills/rent. that's a pretty big deal.
so what does this mean for me? well, i had an electricity bill due yesterday that i had to charge to a credit account, and i have to pay 2 credit card bills, my cell phone bill, and my rent very soon. on top of that, i can't buy groceries. i was out of soap today for the love of god. SOAP! i can't buy food, and i am hoping that my stockpiles of tuna, eggs, and oatmeal will be able to last until my landlord gets back.
and for those of you who are going to suggest direct deposit, i don't have it for a reason. if the money goes into my account on friday, i'll spend it over the weekend and i'd rather not have that luxury. it's a saving tool for me. too bad i can't save money that the post office isn't delivering to me.
and this, ladies and gentlemen, is why i hate the post office.:angry::angry::angry:
