I love this site! I just started to work out and it really is helping my motivation coming to this site and reading the different topics. I started on Sunday not really knowing what I am doing, but a freind of mine gave me a kind of routine that I hope I can stick with. After the first time I have not been able to lift anything at all. I have a high tolerance for pain but, I can't even lift anything after that first time. It has been 3 days since the first and I hope that it hasn't been too long. I am going to try again tonight and hopefully I can do something. I was told by a trainer that I should work everthing five days a week. Then I hear that I should give it a day in between to give the muscles time to heal. Can anyone help me in what I should do? Please advise, Frustrated but motivated:angry:

Hello Mrmerlin2448 and welcome to freetrainers. Congratulations on deciding to improve your lifestyle.
With resistance training, you have to let your muscle rest and recover. After doing a muscle, it should have a minimum of 24-36 hrs rest and not be worked (trgeted directly).
The fibers have to recuperate, thus allowing growth. Rest is essential. If you do a full body workout, you should have a break in between, one day off, one day train.
Hope this helps and good luck.
