Hey everyone,

I just started my FT program on Monday. I love being active again, but I do need a little bit of advice. As you'll see in my profile, I'm 6'1" 190 lbs and I'm trying to figure out whether I should lose fat or gain muscle. I used to work out way back (6 years ago) but since then my metabolism has gone downhill, I've lost most of my muscle mass and gained an increasingly thick layer of fat.

I know that you can't really do both at once, so it may make sense to cut first and gain mass later - that way I can actually see my results during the second training phase. I chose toning in my nutrition profile, but muscle gaining in my excercise profile - is this ok? I figured that I can use the high weights that the latter requires.

Also, I'm having some trouble actually meeting the calorie recommendations, which worries me since even with lower lower intake levels I've been gaining fat for the past few years. I guess my diet was really irregular and had a lot of fat in it, which I've now eliminated, but is that enough? It's just strange that I feel like I'm INCREASING my intake to LOSE fat.

Here are my FT calorie recommendations:

Protein - 192 g
Carbohydrates - 480 g
Fats - 36 g
Total Calories - 2984

Thanks in advance for your help!
