I work 11:30pm - 8:00am I do my weight routine immediately after work. Then cardio when I wake up on empty belly. Going to concentrate more on my diet now - 6 small meals. Any suggestions, as to times i should be eating, when to cut my carbs etc? Right now I have no schedule except protein shake right after morning workout then eat 1 hour later. Cardio on empty stomach. Generally sleep from noon until about 7 - 8 pm.

cut your carbs before bed...make the biggest carb intake just after getting up. dont forget to spread equally your protein intake on all your meals

Stop doing cardio on an empty stomach!! This is not good at all. You are destroying all the muscle that your trying to put on. All that hard work your putting into weight traing is being cancelled out by training on an empty stomach by doing this your using just as much muscle as fat for energy if not more muscle so therefore your BF% will not change it may even increase due to muscle deteroration. Kakaroto is right about cutting carbs before bed. By the way where you been at man?

After your post, I was a bit confused???? I have read so much about cardio upon waking up is best for fat burning (i got lazy, and have gained some weight). But I started reading previous posts, sure you burn fat, but also muscle. Thanks for eye opener :dumbbell:

Never exercise on an empty stomach, whether it be resistance training or cardio.
If you're doing HIIT or traditional steady-pace cardio, you still need fuel in your glycogen stores to make sure your body doesn't metabolize muscle for the energy it can't get from fat (the higher the intensity/duration of cardio, the more you should eat beforehand since higher heart rate = less % of cals from fat.)
That doesn't mean you need to carbo-load beforehand, which would be counterproductive. I usually have 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1/2 cup cottage cheese, and maybe 1 tbsp of natty PB around 75 minutes before a cardio session. Wait about an hour after your cardio session to take in any carbohydrates to take advantage of your post-workout metabolism increase. HIIT cardio may require more immediate nutriton.

Try not to focus so much on an actual "time." Base your eateries on spacing. If you know you're going to eat 6 times a day, then space them out accordingly.
For example. If you eat breakfast at 12, then your next meal might be in like 3 hours. So your next meal would be at 3am, not because it's 3am and it's time to eat, but because it's 3 hours after you ate your last meal.
