Well, my first day at the gym was on Thursday and I did 20 minutes on a bike and then Friday night I did 25 minutes on the cross-trainer. I have to say about half way into it I felt like dying (I kept thinking is this what hell feels like?), and I was exhausted at the end. But I have to admit even though I was tired I felt GREAT. I’m really starting to get into this. I’m going again this afternoon and I’ll probably stick to 25 minutes on the cross trainer again – I don’t want to overdo it. But I’m gearing up for when I start the Ft weight program on Monday.

Anywho, my question is about stretching. I have heard that it is important and I’ve been doing some looking around on the site here but I can’t seem to find any info on stretching. Should I be stretching before/after cardio or just before/after the weights? Both? And does anyone know where I can find descriptions/illustrations of proper stretching?

Thanks!

Hiya - I read a while ago that stretching shouldn’t be done cold other wise you're likely to pull something, the advice was to stretch at the end of your warm up before you hit your 'proper' cardio and/or weights. Personally I also like to stretch again when I get home as I tend to get a bit tight otherwise - hope that helps.

Thanks for the feedback, slippery chimp!

What do you mean by “warm up”? I’ve been jumping into the cardio right away. Am I supposed to be doing some kind of warm up?

I just got back from the gym. I was only going to do 25 minutes again on the cross-trainer, but I ended up doing 40 minutes. I brought my discman with me today and that seemed to make it a little more bearable. But oh my gawd was I pooped after 40 minutes…had to lie down on a mat for a few minutes (LOL).

I hope the program is working for you and you’re starting to see the results you’re after. And you’re right; it’s probably a good idea to stretch later at home.

By the way, I just checked out your website. Awesome site, must have taken a lot of work. I’m dying to go on that big Ferris Wheel in London. Glad to see I’m not the only blogger on here.
