Well, Some of you may know that I am against static or "cold" stretching. I have been trying to find a good way to warm up first then be able to stretch. What are the negatives if any to doing all the warm up sets in my workout then stopping for five to ten minutes to get a good stretch in? I'm not worried about losing the "pump", but would like to regain my flexability.

Cain - I agree you with about the cold stretching but my favorite is static stretches but I don't think in the context you used it. You could do your whole set as a warm up but you're using up a lot of energy in the process. My opinion of course but the way ft has it set up is the best. You start every set with a warm up. Your whole body is going to be getting the affect of the pump thats starting. Unless you've got a secret way of making it pump blood only to certain areas. :) When I use static stretches, it's at the end of a set and I stretch and hold till it hurts too bad to keep stretching.

How about "light" stretching before and during your in-between set rest periods? Then, you can end your entire workout with "heavy" stretching?

Mike, I realize I didn't use "static" too well. I meant cold, or to go from a complete stop to full bore. I think it does sound like incrimental stretches in between exercises is the way to go. I'll try to start stretching intensely after my workout, but I'm usually laying on the floor half dead...

Cain, do you stretch before playing tennis? And if so, wouldn't you consider this to be "static" stretching? I often will do this lightly and then stretch some more after a good 15 mins. of rallying.

No actually I don't. Usually I just start warming up first. It's ingrained in me never to stretch cold... fenced for too long I guess. I think I have a couple new ideas to tackle this though. Thanks for the help all.
