Hey guys,
I was just wondering what you all think. Is it possible to lose muscle mass but stay just as strong or get stronger?
I worry about this as I have been cutting. I am getting to a point now where i really need to keep my diet strict or my body will start taking my muscle away lol, as well as keep my heavy weightlifting going.
I am just curious on if you could lose muscle mass while maintaining or even increasing your strength?

When you increase muscle mass you get stronger and if you loose it you will become weaker. Keep your protein high and make sure your not loosing weight too quickly maybe 1-2pounds a week. Like you said keep lifting heavy.

Are you sure about that? The consensus is that there's no direct correlation between muscle mass and strength ...
You can gain strength and not gain muscle. Doesn't it seem to stand by the same logic that you can lose strength but not lose muscle? Or that you can get stronger even but lose muscle?

possibly...when you lose weight for example...you may be losign weight and soem muscle, yet become more explosive, because the difference between overall strength and body weight....may become higher...ie stronger in terms of body weight...or perhaps you lose more slow twitch muscle fibers than fast twitch...so their relevance is less felt in explosive movements...
