If someone generally gains fat at a moderate to easy range does that mean they will gain muscle at the same rate? I am an ectomorph but i have gained quite a bit of weight since last august and I find that my weight increases do seem to happen over short periods of time in 5 or 10 pound intervals but Its not exactly all muscle. so im just wondering if muscle gain is as easy as fat gain for someone with my genetics.(ectomorph with endormorphic qualities){hereditary beergut}

Lean muscle gain is usually acquired when you weight train, diet properly and get plenty of rest...whereas fat gain can just be acquired by eating. Therefore, logic suggests that fat gain is more easily acquired. Genetics also play a role but I believe that it only limits the amount of lean muscle one can gain. It does not determine how fast one will be able to gain mass.
