Hello ladies,

I am trying to help a lady friend of mine lose weight. She is not extremely heavy however she stores most of it in her stomach. The problem is that she lost weight at first but for the past 3 weeks she has remained the same. I do know that diet is 80% of making a change so I have helped her adjust her diet. She eats as follows- Oatmeal in the morning, protein bar mid day, half a large salad for lunch, the other half around 4:00, hits the gym around 7:00 then usually egg whites and spinach for dinner at around 8:30 or 9:00. She also usually has a protein shake at some point in the day. She eats small portions and as you can see often in order to keep her metabolism going. She also takes the Fizogen Lean Tabs that we got at the Mr. O expo.

At the gym she goes pretty hard. She does 20 min on each of the following- treadmill, stairmaster, and elliptical. She goes for an hour total five days a week. She also does three days of weights. I have her going moderate weight for higher reps.

I feel bad because she works hard and has made a change in her diet and she is not getting the results which equals frustration.

Any suggestions or tips that may have worked for others would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for all of your help.

Smalls it sounds like she is working very hard so I'm going to suggest that she isn't getting enough to eat.

in addition to what anni said, i might decrease the amount of cardio and go for heavier weights with fewer reps on the weightlifting. she won't get bulky, i promise.

have her do cardio on days she doesn't lift, but don't do it for an hour. instead, try 25 minutes of high intensity cardio, such as interval training(h.i.i.t.), once a week and 30 minutes of regular cardio the other two days. also, have her keep her heart rate in her target zone, which can be calculated by using the karvonen formula. (link: http://www.livelongbestrong.com/resources/karvonen.htm)

i know what kind of frustration she's feeling, but it can be overcome. good luck to both of you!
