Any tips to keep from eating so much on Thanksgiving? I hate this time of year because I like eating so much and I always seem to over eat. Makes me feel like doing cardio for an hour after I get done with supper.

That's probably what you should do after the meal lol. I've got one tip. drink a couple glasses of water right before your meal so that way you'll feel a feeling of fullness quicker then usual.

Prepare your own side-dishes without the excess fats/sugars - ie regular baked sweet potato instead of candied yams, green beans in fat free cream of mushroom instead of green bean casserole, etc. Drinking water beforehand to avoid binging is also a great idea.

Here is a sweet potato recipe we are using. Very healthy, great stuff.

2 lb. sweet potatoes cut into 1 1/2 inch pieces
3 large garlic cloves
1 tbsp. chopped rosemary
2 tbsp. olive oil
1/4 cup toasted pine nuts
2 tbsp. chopped parsley
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp. coarse black pepper

Combine sweet potatoes, garlic, rosemary and oil. Toss to blend. Roast at 375 degrees for 50 minutes. Just before serving, season with pine nuts, parsley, salt and pepper.

I think I did pretty good on the dinner today. Had a good serving of white turkey breast, small serving of mashed potato(no butter), small dinner roll, and I had to have some of my moms sweet dinner desert(don't even want to tell you what all is in it but it was really good). All in all I held myself back from seconds and I am quite proud of my self. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

I did farely bad, but oh well. It was a cheat day. I did go for seconds, and I ate until I was stuffed! I mean seriously stuffed! I did a little bit of bike riding after that (about a mile) I didn't eat for the rest of the day. I didn't have pie though. So at least that's a good thing. I had stuffing, little bit of mashed potatoes and corn (with butter) lots of turkey (gotta get at least some kind of protein in there) some ham, and some brocolli caserole. The next time I do this will be in about a year! Or maybe Christmas lol. But I don't plan on getting as stuffed on christmas. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

for the first time in my life it is thanksgiving and i am not full. in fact, i'm really, really hungry. the best way to avoid overeating on thanksgiving? spend it by yourself and then go to work.

no...i'm not bitter.

Yep, the being alone diet works pretty well. I made my own cranberries using Splenda, had some sliced turkey and that was pretty much it. Didn't have to put up with the insanity that is my family. I'm saving that for Christmas!
