I'm just being curious here. How many of you guys are able really to take yourself to the very limits when exercising? This is noooooo fun at all lol (pain!!!!!) and often people cannot do it without having a partner screaming and forcing you to do it.
I just did HIIT this morning and I felt sooooooo sick and felt desperately like vomiting..... Thou I continued...... Hmmm I guess one really has to be a little bit lunatic to do this.
You've tried it? How many of you (and how often) does it happen and whyyyyyyyyy?!!!!!!

philia2, you've got a great attitude, and an amazing drive to push yourself to great limits, and it definitely shows. Keep up the good work! Personally, when I train with or without my partner, seeing the "stars" that one member mentioned happens quite frequently. I do have off days where I just don't push myself that far, but I'd say 95% of my workouts can really get me spinning. But it's the ability to get through that and finish your workout strong that makes you look back and feel good about yourself. Seeing results, and seeing improvements make it easier to feel like puking and continuing the workout, doesn't it? Keep pumping, philia2!

Well, I believe that intensity gives you focus in a workout, and consistency is key, so I do this every time. After many lifting days I put the bar down and collapse on the floor. I was playing basketball yesterday, and was going to throw up, but I just kept playing and it went away.

Philia2 good post lol
Today at the gym i did a bad ass squat that i almost blackedout... after i had my protien shake still couldnt drive home lol
Personally i push my self to the max... i usually go real crazy in the last 2 sets of each excersise.... Workout partner can help alot also...
----LETS ALL LEARN FROM GOOD OLD Schwarzenegger----
"Experiencing this pain in my muscles and aching and going on and on is my challenge. The last three or four reps is what makes the muscles grow. This area of pain divides a champion from someone who is not a champion. That's what most people lack, having the guts to go on and just say they'll go through the pain no matter what happens." ~Arnold Schwarzenegger

I can go to the limit everytime if I want, although I'm not so sure about it. I've heard pushing to the very limit is either detrimental or produces the best gains. Could anyone clear this up for me?
On a side note, I'm a wind elemental, so will is my strong point. ;-)

I 'can' go to the limit each time but it seems like doing that doesn't really help.. lately I haven't been pushing myself all the way... and even when I do its not too often.... guess I better pick up the pace...

Working to failure during each workout will not necessarily produce hypertrophy. I've always advocated doing this only once in a while. Just make sure you have variety in your workout and this should induce muscle growth!
