Has anyone taken Kava-Kava before for anxiety or helping with sleep before. Does this stuff really work and does it have any bad side effects?

I have heard that it does help with sleep, and then I have also heard that if you use it any time other than sleeping, that it gives you a kinda drugged up I don't care type feeling. I would give valerian root a try before looking into kava kava.

it depends on everyone, a rest can also be a change of routine: a lighter one of course. do what you think your body is trying to tell you.
about sleeping, i wouldn´t recommend to take all those pills bro. you will become addicted to them and wont be able to sleep later.
what is happening? do you fell tired? or are you just impressed that you cannot sleep but you are nopt tired at all? or what?

first time I took it, it knocked me off I slept for 12 hours straight

i bought melatonin and found no adverse effect. i have also been prescribed by the doctor something sinequin on a short term basis. With medical help it was discussed to look at a six month programme to assist my stress levels and aid me into restful sleep. It took about 9 months. But making it a practise to relax and then to sleep without an artificial aid was the onjective.
i don't care if it's chamomile tea, valerian, kava, melatonin- but i do stress to you that you should where possible plan it as a short term aid to doing it for yourself... for example relaxation does not include feet up watching television! If you sit in the jacuzzi and clear your mind as best you can for 10 minutes either counting or repeating a word and thinking only of that, then you are relaxing. bedtime is also a reflection of habit. Don't go to bed to watch tv or to read a book, it becomes a habit- go to bed to sleep. Don't eat cheese, carbs, guarana, ginseng, coffee after 6pm. Make some self help rules- I know your not sick, just with an upset sleeping balance.
