Is it okay if I do mabye 20-40 push-ups everyday during my program?

I do not think it will hurt to much as long as you are careful not to overtrain(take a few days off now and then).

I agree in the sense that it does train the chest, but push ups also work the majority of the body. It really depends on how his body takes it. And how hard his chest day is. I can rip off 30 or so push ups and a day and
still train my chest and feel no adverse effects. But I also take at least one day off a week Usually more. It really comes down to how his body takes it. What would be overtraining for you may not be for him.

Well that is what makes this site so cool, we each have different ideas what is right and wrong.....though I think there are few wrong ways here, just different ideas. Anyway what works for you may not work for me. But it is good for us to offer different opinions, that way they can try out each and see what works the best.

Well, I don't get a choice since we have forced PT and I do anywhere from 20-30 pushups 3x per week. I don't think that it is damaging at all, but you don't need to do them if you are weight training.
