I am 5'10 and 155lbs.. Howdie I have been reading your posts since i joined and i would like to say you are truly an inspiration. I recently just lost alot of weight and i seem to be stuck at 155lbs i would love to be around 130 but everyone thinks i am crazy and fine the way i am.... Well since i have lost all this weight you can imagine that i am not toned especially in the ab area. my ultimate goal has always been to have nice abs, but thats one area that will just not get the way i want it to.. and my love handles are the worst and i know that abs are made in the kitchen and not the gym but i am at 155lbs and you said you weighed like 165 and i would LOVE to have your abs...Is my stomach fat or is it loose skin from the weight loss.. Anyway i was just wondering if you or any others that have any advice please fill me in...I really could use the help..Thanks Kristen

kristen, i just sent you a pm, but i didn't really address some of the questions you asked in this post. i actually weigh closer to 175, i just can't drop below 165 without starting to look sick. i weigh more because i lift very heavy and have quite a bit of muscle mass. i tend to disregard the numbers on the scale because they've always been a poor reflection of what my body actually looks like.

in all honesty, i look less toned when i weigh less. when those pictures were taken in august, i was 178 and had 17% bf. at the beginning of may, i was 167 and almost 30% bf. as you can see, i weighed 11 lbs more in august, but i was considerably leaner.

in a sense you're right about abs being made in the kitchen, but if you don't work your abs in the gym you won't have anything to show when you lose the fat, not to mention you will be lacking in core strength. what i would recommend is signing up for an ft program with the special ab development program. work your entire body, not just your stomach, and eat enough calories to fuel your progress. diet is the biggest piece of the abdominal puzzle, but diet doesn't mean starving yourself. you have to meet your body's requirements to keep your metabolism going. another great resource on this site is the nutritional program and tracker. this helped me tremendously when i was trying to lose my extra weight.

i'm starting to get into what i've already sent you, but i hope this helps you. remember that you are much more than a number on a scale or the way your abs look in a midriff. you are an important person no matter what your body looks like. take that to heart and the rest will fall into place.

Nice post, Howdiekat.

Sexygirl - keep on lifting and eat a healthy, clean diet. Abs are achievable, but it takes time and commitment.
