Some general guidelines to think about before posting on the message board.

- Have you filled out your profile?

- Before asking a question have you scrolled down to the bottom and done a fit buddy search?

- Have you explored the actual website (Read the fitness resources, maybe sign up for an exercise program)

- Do you have reasonable goals, and is your question one that can be answered? Example of an unreasonable question: I need to lose 100lbs fast. Help! How can we be expected to answer that question?

- Are you looking for the easiest way to get results or are you committed to working to achieve your goals? I will call you out if I think you are a slacker.

- Do not ask any questions about abs. That questioned has been asked 7,465 times and the answer is still the same. Abs are made in the kitchen.

This should help you with getting a good start on the message board. I hope that you find this website as rewarding as I have, and please take the time to learn as much as possible from the wealth of knowledge that is here. FREE!

Great post, Hec. You hit on this but if a new member is also new to working out and eating right then absolutly try an FT workout. Take a look at George and Adrian and ask yourself if these guys know what they are doing. Since these guys designed the workout it's obvious that they are effective. The FT workouts are tailored to specific goals such as definition, mass building and weight loss. They also lay out specific nutritional guidelines for meeting your goal. Try one before trying to design your own workout. This will help teach you proper form and technique. Once you have a few 8 or 12 week programs under your belt then you may want to create your own.

If you're new to fitness YOU DON'T NEED SUPPLEMENTS other than vitamins and a post workout shake. Workout eat and rest properly for several months before worrying about additional supplements. You will make huge gains just by doing the basics. When you progress to the point where they might benefit you, the sight has a sponser that has excellent product descriptions as well as appropriate warnings. There is a terrific message board as well dedicated to supplements.

Please familiarize yourself with the message boards and post in the appropriate section. Please only post a given question on one board. The people who will answer your questions read every single board. Then be patient.

The most important aspect of fitness or weight loss is sticking with it. You didn't get out of shape or overweight overnight. You won't get into great shape overnight either. There are no magic workouts or pills. All of us here spend alot of hours at work or in school or both. The really cool thing about fitness is that you can do it in 45 minutes a day for 3 or 4 days a week. Have you got that much time? Will you stick with it? Do you need or want motivation, inspiration, information and friendship with fitness minded people???? If you answer yes to those questions then you are in the right place.

Welcome to FT.

Monica Brant on dieting - "Don't eat donuts."

Most people know what they 'should' do, but lack the motivation/dedication to push themselves out of their comfort zone and change their habits.

It isn't a quick or short-term change that will make you healthier and fitter, but the adherence to a new, healthier lifestyle and the commitment to consistent exercise.

Hello world I hope you can help me figure out what my alternatives are. I have gone from 187 lbs in 1991 to 301 lbs last night 14 years later. I have gone and requested the stomach stapling surgery and it will be approved in 6 to 8 weeks and then about 4-5 months for the surgery date. Lately i have been thinking about what a drastic action that is. but i have some issues

1. No/Little time
2. My back pain is brutal at times (sciatic nerve pinch)

what can I do to get motivated and get off my backside do you have some effective routines that could help me out without putting pressure on my back.

Hey Hec,
I guess I`m concedered a newbie and I`ve posted a few posts but no one has an answer for me. My post delt with the syndrome that I was born with. It`s called poland syndrome and deals with muscle deformity and bone structure and a few others; anyway, I was wondering if there were any body building meets that had a handicap divsion. My goal is that before I leave this place here on earth, I want to be recongnized as the first poland syndrome body builder. I`ve got back into the my local gym the last two months and worked very hard by myself. It seems no one likes to work out with a handicapper? I`ve managed to bench my strongest weight which is 180 lbs., it doesn`t seem like alot but where I only have half of a chest it`s gold to me. I need some leadership to obtain my goal of 300 lbs. Have you any info on chest, shoulder and back routines? Any will help...
Thanks,
Ray

Littleray, two of the most competent posters here answered your post in the bodybuilding board. I'm sure very few of us are familiar with Poland Syndrome. If you're able to train, take a look at the fitness resources section under the health resources heading at the top of the homepage. all kinds of chest exercises are there. Also if you are able to work your whole body this will help make gains in your chest.Hope this helps. Welcome to FT.

Hey, i'm like the new kid on the block. I'm a 15 year old with a lot of confidence. I've only started working out but I'm likiing it a lot. I'm taking it quite seriously and I was inspired to start working out by Paul Levesque (more commonly known as the wrestler/bodybuilder Triple H). He first started his bodybuilding when he was 14 and his desire and passion have truly inspired me. For those of you that do not know, he suffered a major quad injury back in 2001 where the muscle was torn clean off the bone and he was unable to compete for over 7 months. And I watched a little movie clip about him saying what he loved had been taken away from him and how he trained in rehab the hardest he could, which was inspiring and showed that if you want something badly... theres always a way. The injury he received would have ended the career of a lesser man, and he truly showed his heart. His book called: "Making the Game: Triple H's approach to a better body" is surely going to be a good read for me and if anyone has already read it or is planning to get it could you tell me more about it, and if you haven't heard of it, I reccomend it, because I doubt it will be a waste of your time.

Hi. My name is Anna. I am a 24 year old mother of three. I have very specific goals that I would like to meet. I just earned my EMT certs. and I need to get in shape to pass the physical agility test to apply for a job. I am overweight. I weigh 166 and am 5'3. I would like to loose at least 30 lbs. and be able to do 30 squats holding every ten, and keep my heart rate within my target range while carrying 150 lbs with a partner. I also need to be able to lift 65 lbs. from the floor to over my head. My husband is in the military and I am at home with the kids. I am able to work out in the early mornings and then later in the evening. Any advice or support would be wonderful. Oh, I have bad knees. I was diagnosed with advanced chondro malecia (sp) about 15 years ago. So my knees are not so great.
Look forward to hearing from people!
