hamstring injury need help asap

i injuried my ham about a year in a half ago. it has not healed properly. it only hurts when i try to run fast and i need to get it back right so i can try out for football. i need help bad :(

I'm sorry I can't be more help, but I think if an injury has been going on for that long, you need to see a professional - e.g. a physio. Maybe it is just stiffness, but without an examination it's hard to tell.

strech alot.. and gradually start strenghtening it again lunges.. leg press and other hammy workouts go slow and build the muscle up again it should heal up with the new muscle added.. hope it helps

i must disagree with you redfox. rehabbing a hamstring is not something you should try without professional assistance, especially if you believe it has healed incorrectly. in some cases, the tissue that develops to heal the tear can attach the hamstring to places where it shouldn't be attatched. i.e., an upper hamstring tear can result in scar tissue hooking into the pelvic bone, and stretching/strenghtening without proper therapy can create a new tear that is worse than the old one.

kevin, have your doctor recommend a licensed physical therapist who can help you rehab your injury. 6 weeks usually does the trick.

See your Dr. It is impossible to even begin giving advise since we don't even know what kind of Hamstring injury you had.
