Would it be ok to train forearms whenever your resting from your leg sets? Example, you do leg extensions for a set, and right after that train forearms for a set, and then hit your quads again right after that? Would that be ok? Reason I'm asking is because I don't have enough time to train forearms with the biceps, and if I lower the amount of sets I do for biceps, I just don't get sore and I don't feel like I'm gaining any mass. Would this be ok?

i have the same problem like you: time.
i think training it like you say is not a problema at all. and i don´t think you will get tired between sets and wont be able to squat with your max. it is ok, i probably try it too. althou personnaly when training legs i just lay on the floor after a set. but thats just me LOL:angry: |

Try doing forearms on back day. That way you can stand with bbell and do curls etc, without your legs being exhausted.-------------- "A will finds a way, failure is not an option" Ivan carivan@freetrainers.com Montreal Canada |

Thanks for the posts. I'm going to go ahead and train forearms with legs today, but I'll try the forearms with the back as well next week to see what's better for me. I think there is going to be some people at the gym looking at me weird for training forearms with legs. but oh well. Maybe I'll do the forearms when I reach the 3 calve exercises. That won't be all that weird. It feels funny walking after doing leg extensions and sometimes I feel like I'm going to fall when I bend my knees.

If you have a problem area, you can do what is called priority training. The way you mention in between leg sets is an ideal way to do this, in addition to your normal forearm training. There are many others, but it will be fine.-------------- If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.... bb1fit@freetrainers.com |

On back day however, hecan't do it in between sets....as he wants to ...he'll have to do it afterwards...which beats the purpose....if he does it in between sets..then his grip will suffer...I have never trained forarms separately at all...Next time on your back day...go heavy on deadlifts....and heavy on sitting concentration curls on biceps day....
I think leg day is actually not a bad idea....because you are not working a muscle group that assists you during the next exercise you're about to do...SO i think leg day is a perfect day to do it...if you must do it in between sets...also from my experience...you rest generally longer for leg sets like squats...so it's really a great time to do some other exercise...gl | |

I did the forearms in between the sets today. It worked out fine, but the only problem was walking over to the dumbells and doing them. Kinda hard to get up and walk a good ways to the exercise area. But overall it was good. What exercises do you all do for forearms by the way?

Well, you do have to use some common sense even when prioritizing.

Just a note I usually if I train forearms,( I train my grip now not "forearms", I do it on a "push day".....since I do deadlifts or some form of deadlift on leg day. Push being usualy with chest/shoulders.-------------- The following, has not be approved by the FDA or FT, it was not meant to diagnose, treat,or prevent any diease(s) Please consult a moderator or doctor before using any of the suggestions or comments. |
