I have recently found out I am lactose intolerant, thank goodness, solved a lot of problems :) Since whey is made from milk products it would stand to reason that it has plenty of lactose in it. I know about both egg and soy protein. Is it true that soy protein would inhibit testosterone and increase estrogen? If I went with egg protein would I use a smaller amount than whey, the egg protein is a bit more expensive. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Check out trueprotein.com they have many different kinds of whey proteins in which the lactose and fat is filtered out and they also sell egg protein.

Use whey isolate, not concentrate.

Thanks Justin and bb1. I checked out the trueprotein site. Looks good. Should I use 100% isolate or mix it with some other slower digesting protein as well.

On the trueprotein site the have a milk protein isolate that is pretty much devoid of lactose. It has both whey protein and casein. Would this be a benefitial mix?

casein will slow the digestion down of the protein........which I dont' think is good for after a workout. After you work out, you want as much protein and carbs to get into blood and muscles fast as possible

Should I then split the two out and just do the isolate after the workout and then the casein at a different time?

From reading other posts it looks like it would be best to have the isolate first thing after a workout and then the casein before bed. One question is, should I add dextrose to the isolate and could I drink some pre-workout and then some post-workout?

casen is milk protein........I thought you was lactose intolerant? that mean you have trouble digesting milk, maly casen protein.

From what I understand, isolate and casein have been processed and very little if any lactose remains. The protein with lactose is whey concentrate.
