Last Year I weighed about 210lbs, I started the body for life program in September of last year after 3 months, I was down to like 175-180lbs. Then i went off the program. Now I try and go to the gym atleast 3 times a week, i do not do any cardio anymore. Ever since I started my new job, Ive lost even more weight. Im down to like 165-170lbs. I work nights, and i sleep into the afternoon, i don't eat anything at work cuz i cant.. I work in a nightclub. and when i wake up in the morning I dont feel like eating right away and I dont really eat much at all throughout the day. today for instance all i had to eat were like 5 chicken nuggets and a handful of french fries. I also had 2 protein shakes. I Should I eat something right before i go to sleep each night? and try to eat something right when i wake up? I wanna gain mass without gaining a lot of fat.

If you eat right before you go to bed, then you will gain weight (fat) fast because your body will absorb more of the food you eat (fat molecules) instead of burning it through metabolism. so if you want to gain mass without gaining alot of fat...DO NOT eat right before you go to bed. You want the protein to get to your muscles to put on some mass, and protein is digested only in your stomach. it also takes 1-4 hours for digestion to be completed in the stomach before moving on to the small intestine. so you should eat what you desire at least a few hours before bed.

This topic has been kicked around quite a few times. I recommend searching the site for some more information too as this had been discussed at length.
Good info srzrasoul, however, if zack consumed a protein source before bad that was either fat free or low in fat he would gain little or no fat. I drink a soy protein isolate blended with a couple cups of skim milk. You can do the same in the morning if you are not planning on working out first thing. Try eating proteins in the morning and before bed that are slower to be absorbed (like some egg whites, non-whey protein shakes..). You MUST eat to gain, no other way. By managing your carb, fat, and protein intake you can gain quickly (mass and some fat) or slower and leaner.
Make sure you take a multi-vitamin and drink loads of water, you don't need the supps. Are you working out at ALL??

Good luck.

I had trouble gaining wait too. I chose the midnight shake method. I would get up about 2 and take a protein shake with fat free milk. I gained 7 pounds in about 6 weeks and most of that wasnt fat. give it a try and see if it works for you.

I sincerly suggest to take a protein shake before going to bed...if you do not take it, you'll have an empty stomach for all night long...and I think that's pretty bad...
So, if you want to grow correctly...take a shake before bed time! See yah!
