Hey All,
In the bodybuilder grocery list in this forum ( http://www.freetrainers.com/FT/jsp/Message.jsp?f_ix=3&t_ix=1404 ) it lists Rice (White). I thought that white rice was bad though as it contains simple carbs, and that you should only have brown rice?
Or is white rice only bad when trying to cut?
Thanks,
Jez.

White rice isn't such a good source of good carbohydrates. Rice that has a lot of complex carbs is a good thing.

White rice has more empty calories than or whole rice. Try to eat the whole stuff.

White rice is simply brown rice that has had all of its nutrients bleached out of it. I am still not sure why anyone even eats white rice, you may as well just eat the cardboard box it came in.

One of the main problems with white rice is the fact that it is absorbed relatively quickly and can cause blood sugar imbalance. You can slow down the absorption by eating it with fat or protein, rather than on it's own or with other carbs.

White rice has its place in bb for the blood sugar rise. This can be a decent thing to use post workout meal...in a pinch if you are not doing a shake for some reason. Other than this, not much use for it. There is some evidence that the "window" actually lasts longer than 1 hr., and as much as 3. So, therefore if you are going to have it I would have it then. I usually for instance have anything I consider "high sugar" for the day in this meal, whether it be a cookie from the health food store, etc. when bulking.
