Here is a topic I have been thinking about. I love to lift and generally anything to do with it. I know from reading here that most of you do to. The question I have is do any of you experice the same strange looks that I get. I mean I am 300 and for the most part do not look like I lift (well maybe my arms <grin>). Anyway I get this almost zoo animal look (they looking at me like I am in a zoo) at the bag I bring my 3 meals in, at the magazines I read and just about everything I do in terms of lifting...I sometimes change at work to save time at the gym. Wheeew! So how about any of ya all get the same feeling or looks? I think they just do not understand how I feel about it, I know that my wife deals with it cause it keeps me sane!!!!!!!!!!1

I'm not big enough to get those strange looks...dont' think I'll ever get past 180 pounds. I do get compliments from co-workers, though, on my physique.

Hhehehee, well this is the story of my life. But I can never tell if it's the piercings, the tatts, the bald head, my buddhist nature, my existential philosophy, or just my size, that gets me these looks. The people I work with all know how dedicated I am to lifting, and luckily my boss lifts too, so he supports me a great deal. I also get all my supps delivered here, so I get really odd looks when I start pulling out all that stuff.

2 words. BIG TIME. There is a real split in my office. Two of us lift, actually dsarco who is a member here, and I. The rest joke us all day about how often we eat, why we'd want to work so hard. However, I have noticed that this is coming from a bunch of FUBS! (Fat useless bastards) I mean, they all drink loads of soda, eat candy all day and are physically miserable. In addition, I can tell they are really impressed. I mean they give us hell, but all admit to wishing they could do this or that and then they want our advice. I just had someone come into my office and ask me about supplements. It was cool. You are the man for doing what is right for you. It is hard, much harder than walking to the vending machine or smoke area and lighting up. Roll on MUTT.

I don't get strange looks, yet. That is one of my goals.

Everytime my old boss would come to talk to me about something, I'd be eating, that was kind of weird. But, I had some ladies call me from off of the street to ask me if I've been seeing a personal trainer, so that was pretty cool.

When I started in Martial Arts about 3 years ago I found the same thing because I was large. I got a lot of you in Martial Arts and then the odd snickers and funny looks. I two started to change my diet eating more often and better choices and reading books and mags. It changed for me when my co workers started to see a difference in me also a couple of them asked me what I had learned so I showed a couple of them and they realized that I was searious. Now the jokes have stopped a lot of people ask questions I have even got a couple involved. And now a lot of them know I am using the ft program as well and are suportive. So it went from bad to good took a while but it happened maybe you will have a similar experience with your co-workers Mutt. I think sometimes people need time to accept changes in people they know and work with. But I must say throwing a couple around sure helped lol.

I get the same thing, like look at that big son of a #$@%.
Not a big deal. Let them stare. I can see the, "man I wish I was that big or could do that in their eye's". Just worry when they stop staring or worse yet laugh.

In France, if you got too many muscles (and care about your body) you are either 1) homosexual or 2) just without any brain cells, in other words darn stupid.

Actually, I think that people are just jealous. They are too weak and lazy to do anything themselves, they feel miserable with their way of eating and their bodies BUT they just cannot seem to move their a$$ SO they make YOU the weird, stupid, or fanatic one.

Yes, it's annoying but I still wouldn't change for anything. It's MY life and MY body, so I just shut my ears and still feel proud of how I look.

i used to get it ALOT! but instead of letting it bother me, i would just feed off of it and use it for motivation.

Ah, but now... the benefits of being President and CEO of a fitness-industry corp. everyone here is physically active somehow.........and if they ever did give me crap, i'd just fire 'em!

*evil laff*

Unfortunatly, we're the minority but, I use those FUBS at work as fuel for the gym. Anything to get an edge. People can get extremly jeolous, but I could really care less. I just sit back revel in the thought that I could break them all in half! LOL

LOL that is exactly what I say, you can eat the fast food and soda, but when you car is stuck in the snowbank who do you come running to? The big guy that is eating his 2nd chicken breast with rice washed down with his 32oz of water. I like the looks that I get, it makes me more determined at the gym to get those last few reps or an extra 10 mins on the treadmill.
