i always like lifting heavy poundages but it often happens that when i use very heavy weights straight away, my muscles get fatigued and i am not able to do any more sets with the same weight. is this a general problem or is it just with me?

That's why you should increase the weights progressively. Begin to take heavy on your 2nd set...but keep it under 80% of your 1 rep max. Work your way up to past 80% (if you can) by the 3rd or 4th set. If you fatigue right away, it could be that your suppporting muscles are weak and need more work. What exercise(s) are you referring to?

You want to warm your muscles before you start to put a lot of strain on them. This is very important.
