I just started taking a homemade ZMA mix, but I think I may have gotten the wrong stuff or am taking the wrong ammounts. Some research showed that the ZMA formula has the following contents.
B6 = 10 mg
Magnesium = 450 mg
Zinc = 30 mg
I bought Zinc Asportate (NOT Asp"A"rtate), and Magnesium Asportate (NOT Asp"A"rtate). And the smallest measument of B6 I could find was 100 mg.
First off, is there a difference between Asportate and Aspartate? If so, what is it? Second, is 100 mg of B6 ok?
This stuff is supposed to make you sleep like a baby, instead when I take 30 mg of Zinc Asportate, 400 mg of Magnesium Asportate, and 100 mg of B6, I get hot flashes, followed by crawling skin (feels like bugs crawling on me).
I am also cycling ECA, but I know how it affects me, Ive cycled it before and this is a seperate feeling.
I could use some info guys.

50mg of zinc gluconate will be fine, 500 mg. of magnesium, and about 10 mg. of B6.

is it true that the only difference between the many types of Zinc and Magnesium is how well they are absorbed?

Hey bb1fit,
I finally got started making my own zma and used it for the first time about 4 days ago. I've noticed that I have had significantly more dreams than I normally have been waking up with 6hrs of sleep wide awake. Normally I need at least 8hrs to feel somewhat awake. How can I tell if this is the zma working or if its somewhat of a placebo affect and I am just thinking its the zma working?

This may well be from the ZMA. In many folks it is common to have vivid dreams, though they usually stop after a while. It is not unusual to wake up in 6 hrs. feeling like you got 8 hrs. It does enhance "quality" of sleep.
