Hello all,
I was looking thru the ft nutritional plan and it recommended my daily intake of carbs be 753 - fats 96 and protein 269. I am not looking at loosing weight but more keeping my size and leaning up and possibly gaining a bit in lean musscle. however getting back into this after years away lets just say I ain't so lean. :-) Currently standing at 5'11" @ 215lbs.

Should my carb intake be considerably lower?

Thanks

Yes....753 would be too much for most of us except on an exceptional cheat day!

If you are going to use weight and cardio training for weight loss you need the carbs. They are fuel. The trick is to burn slightly more calories than you eat. This takes counting carbs seriously to do.

You need to determine the calories necessary to maintain your current weight while doing your exercise program. Once you maintain the same weight for 2 weeks, then reduce your overall calorie intake by 250 cals per day for a week or two. Then reevaluate and reduce again as necessary.

The number one question about FT nutritional guidelines is "Isn't this a lot of calories?" Well maybe and maybe not. They are guidelines. You need to experiment and determine where you need to be. The macros are not negotiable IF you also follow an FT workout.

Hope this helps.
