Hi, I am not intermediate/advanced (yet), but am posting here hoping to get advice from someonce experienced.
I am thinking of trying creatinine monohydrate. I'm female, 5 feet 8, 130 pounds, fairly new to heavy weights (although not new to weights). My questions are:
(1) Which brand or creatine is best? (2) How much should I take? (3) Should I be concerned about safety? In the adverts, the companies talk about safety problems with the 'other brands'. Thanks in advance! Sharon.

Hello Rayner and welcome! Many of us here have used or are currently using a creatine product so you may get varying opinions as to which one the most effectively - everyone is different and so are the effects.
Since you asked about a monohydrate though I would recommend a product with the Creapure stamp. Studies have shown this to be the most pure form of creatine.
As to much to take, again opinions vary. Many feel you need to load initially (usually 10-20 grams a day) following the product instructions, while others (myself included) feel that if you are using the product for an extended period of time you can simply take the post-loading doseage of 3-5 grams per day. I generally do not take it when not working out, unless more than 2 off days in a row elapse and then I will have it on the 3rd non workout day.
I wouldn't worry about safety. I have not met ANYONE using creatine that has had any problems. What I have read suggests the same. I am aware that problems can occur, but you have to really bugger up to have something happen to you. You need to drink plenty of water though. If you are competing in any type of endurance training consistently (like preparing for a marathon, road marching for the military, etc.) then I would be careful to really drink loads of water.
Hope this helps.

HEY I am female i am a heavy lifter and i have been taking some form of creatine for about 3 years. i have noticed that some women have experienced bloating and cramping with the monohydrate form. i am currently using SWOLE from syntrax. it is triphosate form of creatine and it requires no loading. it doesnt give you any bloating but a warning it does taste like dog pea lol! but i am kind of used to it now. swole is inexpensive and i have turned alot of lifters on to it and all experiened great results. ! good luck and i hope you find what you are looking for!
