I have a question about how to do a Squat. Now, my football coach told me to do a Squat basically with your feet shoulder width apart. Toe pointed forward. However, a personal trainer, who works with both Ronde and Tiki Barber, told my friend that you should have your feet more than shoulder width apart with your toe pointed at an angle. Which way is right?

they both work quads, the thing is they focus on different muscle.
next time you go to the gym, when warming up, try different positions and you will see what i mean.

The biggest question is: are you squatting to be train for bodybuilding, or for strength training?

Yea, I did try both ways Kakaroto. It feels differnet. Like I seem to be able to get lower one way.
Ravenwolf: Interesting, but the personal trainer suggested going a little bit more than shoulder width apart
Rev8ball: Yes I am strength training at the moment for football next year. I don't care about bodybuilding right now.

close stance=quads
wide stance=hamstrings, glutes :), abductors,adductors
powerlifters use wide stance to recruit more muscles, they also point feet at a slight angle outward
bodybuilders training mostly quads, use either close or should wide stance...
I personally prefer close stance , which for me is about 6-8 inches between heels, with toes either straight or slightly outward....I am not as flexible as certain other people so I am really weak with wide squats, I can't even get down to parallel...so it depends...on your goals, flexibility, height, built, etc

Alot about squats deopends on how your built, which should depend on bar placement leg width etc.
But for the most part, as long as your going at least parellal, stance is more up to you and how comfortable you are.
I feel my legs get a better workout if my feet are about shoulder width apart. However, I can handle and do quite a bit more weight with a wider stance, and my knees don't hurt. I'd say do 3-4 weeks, with a closer stance squat, after that do a lil further apart stance. Both will help, and stress didfferet areas of quads.

also adding to wide stance squats, you lean over quite alot on this lift, you will need a very strong lower back. "Sumo" style is like a combo squat/ good morning kinda.
