Welcome to protein supplements.
Seriously, you can try other brands and that may help. The gassy effect is pretty normal. -------------- Dances with humans Charlie

could also be from fiber....with high protein diet it's recommended to have a fairly high fiber intake...and that could the culprit as well....try Beano it helps digest certain foods....
you often get gas when your body is unable to digest/absorb foods so the bacteria in your large intestine has a feast...producing gas....try taking in smaller more frequent portions,by maybe sipping protein shake...instead of drinking it in one sitting...

Check and see what your protein powder is. If it is Whey concentrate, try changing to a whey isolate. (bars are notoriously bad for inferior protein, and if sugar free, watch the stuff that ends in "ol".

I heard drinking just hot water can help alleviate stomach gas. Not sure if it's an old wives tale but you could give it a try.

hahahaha hilarious comment about the peppermint patties....
Lindsay there is no reason to be embarassed to talk about these things. Everyone in the world has gas and there are probably quite a few more people that want to really know the answer to that question than you think but were too "scared" to ask. ;) Not sure if this is completely true or not. My sister was on a high protein diet and she was told that your body will get rid of proteins when you've had too much but not all other things. I guess like if you eat too much bread your body doesn't just get rid of it all, it packs some of it on as fat....but with proteins your body will say that's enough time to get rid of it....that may be why you're having frequent bowel movements. I'm no expert on this so just take this as what my sister heard hahha ..... |

WPC made me miserable when I first started supplementing my protein with whey. Once I switched to isolate, I didn't have any more problems.

I had this problem, and when I cleaned up my diet it went away COMPLETELY. If you go to the doctor they'll look at your food intake. One time I was told it was lactose intolerance (which it wasn't) then I was told it was Irritable Bowel Syndrome (which I think could have been a mild case of that) Anyway, when I cleaned up what I ate, everything stopped. Sorbitol and other "ol"s make me fart for a LONG LONG time. I stay away from engineered sweeteners and find the more natural it is the better. Also carbonated drinks made me have this problem and caffeine. So try going all natural for a while, I'll bet you see this is what is wrong.

Might want to try 'protease enzymes' to help digest protein easier....
