The most annoying common illness....the COLD! and i caught one lately. How will this interfere with my program. My dad says you should let your body rest and recover from the virus..what should i do?

It depends on how you feel.
Thursday I woke up feeling like crap.
Sore throat, headache, achy feeling and a low grade temp.

I took some tylenol, made myself eat and drink. After work I took a nap. Did some things around the house and went back to bed.

Woke up at 4:ooa.m., worked out (weights and cardio) went to work feeling great. That nasty feeling went away.

Rule of thumb: feed a cold, starve the flu.
If you are vomiting and have the trots then do not eat and drink small amounts of liquid and rest.

If your dad says no working out and to rest then you must listen to your father.

Hope this helps and I hope you feel better soon.

:)Melissa

I would say take the time off to rest and don't goto the gym sick.. last winter I felt a cold coming on... I just took a load of cold medicine and went to the gym anyway... well a week later it smacked me full blast.. I don't think I ever felt so sick from a cold.. shivering and if I moved around too much I started to feel worse.... coughing up crap... man... take that one week or so to get that cold to go away... if it gets too much worse it will only take up more of your time.. besides... if you have made progress you won't lose your gains in only one or two weeks.. now 3+ probably would be more detrimental to your gains (I took a month off once... that sure set me back)...

Don't force yourself to train if you feel tired and down..... You wont be able to recover and your work out will be bad.

Take another day off.

If it's just the nose (?!! lol) and your body feel okey, then I'll train anyway (but I'm a training freak.... )o;
