The one using a curl bar, or dumbells, or lower cable, and with palms facing body, start standing up w/weight hanging down, lift straight upwards to the upper chest (keep weight close to body)and then back down to start. It would be oposite of the upper cable tricep.

I think you're referring to upright rows. I'm not a big fan of these as they can damage your rotator cuff.

I have used them a lot never heard of them causing rotator cuff problems....but as with any shoulder exercise you have to be careful, do not really need a huge amt of weight, and really need to keep the form clean and perfect.

If this is upright rows, I agree with Mutt. I think that this is a good exercise for the back and like he says, you need to pay close attention to form.

Thanks; I think your correct, that does ring a bell. Been doing these w/o any complications, you dont need a lot of wieght to feel the burn.

i dont think they are called upright rows..but they are nothing more than a little excercise anyways, thats why noone knows the name, ah, just od it if you like it why do you want to know the name? heh

They are upright rows...and the exercise targets more of the traps, shoulders and delts than the back. Only if you're bent over will the emphasis shift more towards the upper back.
