First thanks for everybody's help! Ok, here is my question....I HATE doing cardio in the gym. I don't know why, I just can't stand being in one place maybe. hehehe Anyways, I was thinking about running the mile. There is a nice indoor track where I work out. How do you recommend running this. I want to lose fat. I am trying to lean out. I weigh about 225lbs. What should I try and keep my heart rate at or better yet, how fast should I run the mile to get the best benefits. Also, how many times a week should I do this?

Is the mile run going to be enough or should I run more/less?

I would not worry about the distance, focus more on the time. Go for about 20 min several times a week. That has always worked for me in conjunction with lifting and diet. If you go too long, you may sacrifice muscle mass in addition to fat. It really depends on your goal. I have a hard time with cardio being boring. I would much rather go for a moderate-paced run.
