Ok, starting on Monday I am going to write down and keep track of what I all eat. I have been trying to lose some body fat/weight for a little while now. I am 6'4" about 230lbs or so. I have a lot of muscle just covered by some body fat. I would like to get down to 210 or right around there but more importantly lose body fat, get to around 8-9%. Anyways, I don't see how you can all do it. It will be tough not to eat everything! haha Basically do you all just stick to what is on the chart here at FT? Or do you go and eat some other stuff and just write down what is on the product label. Also, can some of you write down what your typical day consists of food wise? Like what you have for breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner? I think it will be difficult at first to start but once I get into it, it will probably be easy. I will also bump up my cardio a bit too! I am starting to play more basketball at night and the days I cannot do that I will do some running or biking. Anyways, can some of you PLEASE give me some tips on what to eat and any other good info you might have. I am going to take a pic of me now and then take another 4 weeks into it and see how I have done. I am going to try the lose weight program. Wish me luck! Thanks!!

I found that cleaning up my diet was very hard at first. I was always wondering what my exact calorie count was... how much protein/fat/carbs I was taking in...
I made myself an excel spreadsheet last year when preparing for an amateur show that let calculate my calories each day a night in advance. This way I could fine tune it the night before to make sure that I was eating right.
One page lets you enter the foods you eat for each meal. It's divided into "amount and protein/carb/fat" breakdowns. I have look up sheets that give lists of foods and their breakdowns also. The main meal page is set up that it automatically calculates your total calorie and the breakdown (protein/carbs/fat)once you have each induvidial foods entered with their breakdown.
Ummm... reading the above... It all looks real confusing. Check out the link below and take a look at my excel sheet:

It's helped me alot and it might just help you out too (that's if you can figure it out... I'm not the best at making pretty excel sheets).
The web page is on my home computer's server, so if it doesn't load up, then I'm probably in the middle of rebooting or messing with my computer :)

I did this for a while and it really helped! I used nutrawatch.com but there are a lot of sites out there that do the same thing. Can't speak for all of them but Nutrawatch has a database of foods and their macronutrients and it calculates your profile for the day as you add them to your meal diary. You set your own goals for calories, fats, protein, carbs, sodium, etc, and if you exceed them you get a red bar. After doing this for a few months you'll get a good idea of what and how much to eat - then you don't have to spend so much time thinking about it. Come to think of it, I should go back and do this again. I'm been eating like a horse lately. :)
Good luck to you!

I always eat clean (even when I cheat..... I just eat MORE!!)
When I get ready for a competition, I write every single thing down, all the calories, the number of meals, grams, proteins etc It helps me to stay on the track (so if I eat something else I'll destroy the whole thing. I know what I want, it's my choice and I can do it!!)
I wont say that it's always something funny..... Everything is calculated and you cannot just eat what (or when) you feel like BUT it'll give the results you want.
Understanding weight training is a lot easier than understanding nutrition (and how your body reacts) BUT learning this change everything and it'll determinate if you'll loose or win in the end.......
Good luck to you duke!!
